Goofy

Doberman · Male · Young · 2 years

Baden/Wr. Neustadt GOOFY Goofy is a young, highly people-oriented male Doberman with plenty of energy, joy in life, and eagerness to work. He actively seeks contact with people and displays a friendly, open, and cooperative demeanor in everyday life. He gets along well with dogs he knows, loves to play, and exhibits age- and breed-typical lively behavior. Goofy would be an excellent second dog. However, Goofy is not a dog for beginners. He is intelligent, sensitive, and extremely active. This means he needs clear structures, reliable routines, and meaningful physical and mental stimulation. People who enjoy working with a dog, guiding him, and providing him with security will find in Goofy a wonderful companion. In the city, Goofy currently becomes quickly overwhelmed; stimuli, tight spaces, and hustle and bustle still significantly stress him. On the leash, he currently shows leash aggression, especially toward unfamiliar dogs. Yet in controlled situations and with clear routines, he can get along well with other dogs. Off-leash running and playing with familiar dogs work very well. Background: Goofy comes from animal welfare. Due to a career change, his previous owner was no longer able to meet his needs adequately. Therefore, Goofy is currently living with us in foster care. What we’re looking for in a home for Goofy: experienced dog owners; a relatively quiet place of residence (rural or near the outskirts of town); willingness to continue working on issues such as leash aggression and stimulus processing. With some time, patience, consistency, and enjoyment of shared development, Goofy has enormous potential—but only in the right hands. Please only get in touch if you feel genuinely drawn to him, are fully aware of the responsibility involved, and are committed to accompanying Goofy long-term rather than “rescuing” him. We’re not looking for a quick home for Goofy, but rather the right one! Contact: ,

Baden/Wr. Kontakt: ,

About Goofy

What life with Goofy looks like

Goofy is a large young adult doberman dog waiting at Dobermann-Nothilfe Mudersbach in Mudersbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goofy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goofy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dobermann-Nothilfe Mudersbach handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goofy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goofy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dobermann-Nothilfe Mudersbach will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goofy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goofy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dobermann-Nothilfe Mudersbach early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goofy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
