Gordon

Chihuahua · Male · Senior · 10 years

This handsome boy is Gordon! He is looking for a loving, quiet home to enjoy his retirement. Gordon can be a little nervous when he first meets you, but give him a little time and patience and you’ll soon see his sweet personality shine through. Once he’s settled, he is a friendly, affectionate and lovely boy. One thing Gordon certainly isn’t shy about is letting you know what he thinks! In his kennel, he is very vocal and is the loudest boy on the block and definitely has plenty to say. Once away from the kennel environment, he is much happier and can relax and show you what a sweet boy he really is. Gordon is also a big fan of his food – winning his heart may well be as simple as offering him a tasty treat! At 10 years old. Gordon is looking for a quiet retirement home where he can take life at a slower pace, feel safe and secure, and be surrounded by people who will give him the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet older gentleman with a big voice, an even bigger appetite and a lovely personality waiting to come out, Gordon could be the boy for you. Gordon has socialised well with other dogs whilst in our care, so we feel following a successful meet and greet, he could potentially live with another small dog. As Gordon came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.

About Gordon

What life with Gordon looks like

Gordon is a small senior chihuahua dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gordon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gordon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gordon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gordon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gordon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gordon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gordon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
