Adopt Gouda

Mixed Breed · Female

Meet Gouda – a 1.5-year-old female dog with a big heart and even bigger joy of life. She is a young, cheerful and very friendly dog who has not lost her trust in people despite a difficult start. Gouda was taken in by intervention from very bad conditions. She was kept in a run without access to shelter from rain, wind or cold. She was thin and neglected. Today she is slowly regaining her strength and learning that the world can be good. She is an extremely kind, affectionate and sunny dog who loves human company. She is looking for a home where she will be loved, safe and never suffer again. Spayed, vaccinated, before spaying. We are looking for a patient and aware home for her – one that will give her time to get used to new things and help her calmly enter the human-dog world. ____________ Remember: the description was created based on observations of the dog in shelter conditions and during walks with volunteers. After adoption, her behavior may change – often for the better, but new challenges may also arise. This is a natural process of adaptation.

Poznaj Goudę – około 1,5-roczną suczkę o wielkim sercu i jeszcze większej radości życia. To naturalny proces adaptacji.

About Gouda

What life with Gouda looks like

Gouda is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gouda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gouda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gouda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gouda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gouda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gouda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gouda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
