Greta

German Shepherd · Female · Senior · 9 years

Greta ended up in the dog pound after her human companion passed away. All we knew was that she was eager to get out. Who isn't, right????Greta is affectionate, friendly, gets along with other dogs (pending a test with cats), and with children???? Although she is a beautiful and incredible dog, we know it won't be easy for her. Many will only see that she is big and adult, but we are going to fight for her to have her chance. If you want to give Greta a chance to be happy and loved in a home, in a family, if it can be yours: ask us about her, Greta is waiting for you???????? Contact: 667849696 - 657961568 www.protectoradepalencia.org ????Photo album of Greta: Search Instagram: and give a follow! If you can't take her in or adopt her, help us spread the word, share, give a like… You never know which "share" will lead to her finding her home.

GRETA acabó en la perrera tras morir su compañero humano. Sólo sabíamos eso y que ella estaba deseando salir. ¿Quién no, verdad????? About Greta

What life with Greta looks like

Greta is a senior german shepherd dog waiting at Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina in Spain.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Greta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Greta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Greta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Greta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Greta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Greta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Greta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
