Greta

Pug · Female · Senior · 10 years

Greta is looking for her place as a single princess. Breed: Retro Pug. Age: approximately 10 years. Greta is no stranger to us. She has already moved into a new home once, but unfortunately, her path led her back to us. In her previous home, Greta lived with a cat. Over time, the two engaged in a fierce "marking competition," so Greta was returned to us. It also became clear that Greta does not like to share her humans' attention and can be prone to such behavior if a fellow animal competes for it. Therefore, it is clear to us: Greta wants to be a single princess and we want to fulfill this wish in her next home. And Greta wouldn't be Greta if she didn't make her wishes known. The little lady likes to yelp for her life, especially when she thinks she deserves a bit more attention. Admittedly, it sounds quite cute. However, her future humans should know that Greta can be a little chatterbox and likes to use her voice. In new situations and with strangers, Greta can initially react with some uncertainty. She needs a moment to orient herself and gain trust. However, once she realizes everything is okay, her uncertainty usually settles quickly. Outdoors, a completely different side of her is revealed: Greta is open, curious, and wants to see more of the world. At about ten years old, the Retro Pug is officially a senior. However, Greta doesn't seem to have noticed much of this yet. Her age is surprisingly little noticeable in everyday life. Only her appearance reveals that she has already lived a few years. Walks with her are pleasant and uncomplicated. Greta is hardly interested in other dogs and usually ignores them. Passing cars or cyclists don't bother her either. And it won't be boring with Greta, guaranteed. She is an incredibly lovable and funny dog who knows exactly which buttons to press with her humans to get what she wants. If that doesn't work, she may pull out the little drama queen. However, Greta is by no means a dog that lets everything go. Quite the opposite: she takes clear rules and boundaries well and gratefully. She benefits from people who treat her lovingly, but don't let her charm completely wrap them around her finger. We wish Greta a quiet home without other animals, where she gets the attention that is so important to her. People who take her little quirks with humor, give her security and orientation, and are eager to experience many beautiful things with her.

DE·Show original

About Greta

What life with Greta looks like

Greta is a senior pug dog waiting at Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Greta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Greta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Greta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Greta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Greta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Greta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Greta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
