Adopt Grisha

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Is Grisha compatible with other animals? Can he be alone for some hours? URGENT! A new home is being sought for Grisha…!! The little Grisha is currently settling into one of our foster homes and is already enjoying his new life a bit. This wasn’t always the case: After he was forced to leave his home unexpectedly, he didn’t understand the world anymore and had a rough time… To Grisha's story: He was likely produced at a breeding station in Bulgaria and came to Germany with a very young woman as a puppy. Grisha is now 4.5 years old, neutered, and is looking for a new home. He gets along with cats, is super smart, and loves to learn new things. Grisha runs well on a treadmill and on a leash and is compatible with all dogs. His initial great insecurity (which was accompanied by growling, sometimes snapping, and a fondness for barking) has largely transformed into a healthy curiosity. When Grisha has once built trust, he also lets himself be dried and combed. He loves long, interesting walks and, for example, dummy training. Recently, epilepsy was diagnosed in Grisha, but he is medicated well and is largely seizure-free. For Grisha, we are looking for people with a good understanding of dogs and dog experience who will give him the necessary time to build trust and at the same time possess good leadership qualities. Some places still need to be thoroughly reviewed with individual dog training. He needs clear and recognizable structures with consistent, reliable, and loving consequences. Even though he looks like it: he is not a real snuggle dog, but he still always wants to be by his beloved person’s side. Furthermore, his new people should be ready to engage in dog sports, trail running, or similar activities with him to keep him physically and mentally stimulated. Verträglich mit anderen Tieren? Kann einige Stunden alleine sein? DRINGEND! About Grisha

What life with Grisha looks like

Grisha is a large adult mixed breed animal waiting at Tierschutz Celle in Celle.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Grisha far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grisha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grisha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Celle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grisha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grisha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Celle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grisha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grisha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Celle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grisha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
