Grisu - EKH-Mix

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 8 years

* Grisu is happy to have animal sponsors * Born: around 2018, at the animal shelter since: 28.08.2025, male, neutered. Grisu came to the animal shelter as a found animal at the end of August. He had been seen repeatedly in the spring and regularly appeared at his finders' place, but he couldn't stay there. Unfortunately, no one has missed him yet. The large tomcat is initially very fearful of anything new. Nowadays, he comes very close during feeding and even stays seated when people enter the room. Unfortunately, it has been discovered that Grisu has feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline AIDS (FIV). Therefore, he occupies a separate room with us. Additionally, he has unfortunately developed diabetes. For Grisu, we wish for a quiet home with a secure outdoor area. He should be given a single space or a home where other cats already live who also carry the pathogens. Children should be older, as Grisu immediately hides if things get too fast and too loud. About Grisu - EKH-Mix

What life with Grisu - EKH-Mix looks like

Grisu - EKH-Mix is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn in Dingolfing.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grisu - EKH-Mix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grisu - EKH-Mix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grisu - EKH-Mix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grisu - EKH-Mix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grisu - EKH-Mix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grisu - EKH-Mix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grisu - EKH-Mix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
