Grumpy❤️

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 18 years

Grumpy is at least what the two-leggers claim. I think I'm more of a charming, experienced gentleman with a stylish haircut. Truth be told, somewhere between 14 and 18 years old. Honestly, I stopped counting at some point. At my age, you just do that. My hearing isn't so good anymore. Seeing is only okay. But you know what works great? My nose! If somewhere a treat is unpacked or the door to the outside opens, suddenly I am amazingly fast. Even people are astonished. Otherwise, I enjoy my retirement life. A little walk through the garden, then a nap. Or two. Or five. That's basically a full-time job. I like people very much. I prefer being in the middle of things rather than just being there. Other dogs? No problem. Small animals? They are allowed too. I am now much too wise to get upset about such things. Admittedly... my bladder is working according to its own schedule now. That's why I wear a fancy dog diaper. It doesn't bother me at all. A real old man knows that style is everything. My ears have a chronic inflammation, so I get medication every day. But they are affordable. And if you wonder why I walk as if I had been looking for the way home after a long party night... That's because of my age and a hip misalignment. I don't have any pain. I just waddle happily through life. No castle. No luxury. No big adventure. I just want a home. A person who lovingly smiles at me when my tongue comes out again (I am actually a "toothless magpie" and dentures were too expensive for me). Someone who puts a soft basket in front of me, strokes me and says: "Come on, Grandpa, let's go for a little walk." I wish I wouldn't have to spend my last years at the animal shelter. I don't want to die at the animal shelter. I want to belong again. Wanted to be loved again. Wanted to experience what it feels like to come home. If you think that in your heart and on your sofa there is still a small place for a lovable, somewhat eccentric old man, then please contact the Bockau Animal Shelter.

DE·Show original

Meine Nase!

About Grumpy❤️

What life with Grumpy❤️ looks like

Grumpy❤️ is a medium-sized senior mixed breed cat waiting at ASPCA Aue Schwarzenberg in Bockau.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grumpy❤️, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grumpy❤️?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ASPCA Aue Schwarzenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grumpy❤️ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grumpy❤️ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ASPCA Aue Schwarzenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grumpy❤️ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grumpy❤️ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ASPCA Aue Schwarzenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grumpy❤️ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
