How do I contact the shelter about Gumiś?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gumiś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Gumiś if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Gumiś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Gumiś isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gumiś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Gumiś

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Gumiś is looking for a responsible home! This young, approximately 9-month-old dog weighs about 11 kg and came to us on July 28th from Sompolno municipality. Gumiś's beginnings at the shelter were extremely difficult. Out of great fear, he growled at us from inside his kennel, not allowing anyone to approach him... However, this smart boy made the decision to trust us on his own! 🥹 At first, he opened up to one of our employees - it was with her that he felt safe, allowing the first pets and putting on a collar. Over time, he also got used to the rest of the caregivers. He showed us how much he can be loved! Once he gets to know someone and trusts them, he turns into a wonderful, cheerful dog. He loves petting, playing and affection from caregivers. ❤️ He really liked going out of the shelter. He handles walks superbly and walks nicely on a leash. He does not relieve himself in his kennel - he takes great care of cleanliness, which is a huge plus in the context of learning to live at home! 🏠 ⚠️ Gumiś is a young dog who reacts with fear aggression in stressful and completely new situations for himself. Unfamiliar environment and people cause him a lot of fear - for example, a visit to the vet required the use of a muzzle. Gumiś lives alone in a kennel. On walks, he meets other dogs, but at the moment he did not get along with any of them, so we are looking for a home where he will be an only child or a familiar walk is necessary. Due to his sensitivity to stress and fear reactions, Gumiś is looking for a home exclusively without small children. We do not know his reaction to cats, due to the lack of possibility to check this in the shelter. Gumiś needs an experienced, aware and patient home located in a quiet environment that understands the concept of working with a fearful dog. We are looking for caregivers who can wisely set boundaries, read the signals sent by the dog and give him time to adapt without throwing him into the deep end. In the right, quiet hands, Gumiś will be the most faithful and extremely devoted friend! He is neutered, dewormed, vaccinated and chipped. 573418925 Sompolno Shelter ul.

Uwielbia głaskanie, zabawy i czułości z opiekunami. W odpowiednich, spokojnych rękach Gumiś będzie najwierniejszym i niezwykle oddanym przyjacielem! Jest wykastrowany, odrobaczony, zaszczepiony i zaczipowany. 573418925 Schronisko w Sompolnie ul. About Gumiś

What life with Gumiś looks like

Gumiś is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.
