Background This lovely boy is Hachi. Hachi is a (mixed breed) male American Akita, born in January 2017. He came to us after being seized and is now available for adoption! Upon arrival, his condition was heartbreaking. Emaciated, full of fleas, a dull coat,... Now he looks beautiful and is also ready for a new home! Character Hachi is a true Akita. He likes to go out, but then does his own thing. But once he feels 'at home' with you, he will make contact. He is quite energetic and loves to move around. We suspect he is not yet familiar with indoor life and therefore we are looking for a home where people are active with him, but also have a nice space (clean crate, porch, attached garage,...) and access to a well-secured garden. This way you can gradually work from outside to inside. He ignores other dogs. He also walks nicely on a leash and enjoys his walks. He was extremely hungry upon arrival and his fixation on food remains somewhat. He eagerly takes his food but doesn't harm you. It is a point to be careful about. Placement Hachi is looking for a home where the character of an Akita is known, understood and respected. A home where he gets the necessary freedom and space and where people also want to take nice walks with him and give cuddly moments. Free access to the garden is definitely essential. A comfortable outdoor area is certainly good to start with and possibly to get used to living indoors. Due to his fixation on food, we do not place him with small children. From 16 years old, a meeting can definitely take place. He ignores other dogs. We would like to place him as a single dog. A match with a stable, correct and spayed female dog is not excluded.

AchtergrondDeze mooie jongen is Hachi. Hachi is een (kruising) Amerikaanse akita reu, geboren in januari 2017. Hij kwam bij ons terecht na een inbeslagname en is nu vrij voor adoptie! Bij binnenkomst was z’n toestand schrijnend. Graatmager, vol vlooien, doffe vacht,… Nu staat hij mooi en is hij ook klaar voor een nieuwe thuis!KarakterHachi is een echte akita. Hij wil graag op pad, maar doet dan zo wat z’n eigen dingetje. Maar eens hij zich ‘thuis’ voelt bij jou, dan legt hij wel contact. Hij is best energiek en houdt van bewegen. We vermoeden dat hij het leven in huis nog niet kent en zoeken dan ook een thuis waar men actief met hem bezig is, maar waar hij ook een fijne ruimte (deftig hok, veranda, aansluitende garage,…) heeft en toegang tot een goed afgesloten tuin. Zo kan je nog stilaan van buiten naar binnen werken. Andere honden negeert hij. Hij wandelt ook fijn aan de leiband en geniet van z’n wandelingen. Hij was erg uitgehongerd bij binnenkomst en z’n fixatie op voer blijft toch wel wat. Hij neemt voertje gretig aan maar doet je geen kwaad. Het is wel een puntje om op te letten.PlaatsingHachi zoekt een thuis waar men het karakter van een akita kent, begrijpt en respecteert. Een thuis waar hij de nodige vrijheid en ruimte krijgt en waar men ook fijne wandelingen met hem wil maken en ook aangegeven knuffelmomenten wil geven. Vrije toegang tot de tuin is zeker noodzakelijk. Een comfortabel buitenverblijf is zeker goed om met hem te starten en eventueel te laten wennen aan een leven in huis. Door z’n fixatie op voer plaatsen we hem niet bij kleine kinderen. Vanaf 16j kan er zeker een kennismaking volgen.Honden negeert hij. We plaatsen hem graag als hond alleen. Een match met een stabiele, correcte en steriele teef is niet uitgesloten.
