Hades

Australian Shepherd · Male · Young · 1 year

Hades is an Australian Shepherd-Mix, approximately 2 years old, male, neutered. He was surrendered due to an unstable living situation and overload. Hades has been with me since April 2021. Previously, he had four different owners in Switzerland, which likely contributed to his restless nature. Hades is intelligent, attentive, and active, but also reactive, with a strong hunting instinct and a need for clear leadership. He reacts strongly to other dogs, cats, and unexpected human approaches. In public, he is currently muzzle-required (Neuchâtel Canton). I have taken him to various obedience classes and he has learned a lot. However, I am currently overwhelmed with him and cannot provide the environment he needs with his personality. Hades recently had his vaccinations and was checked by a veterinarian, all clear. He weighs approximately 25 kg. Country of origin (where the dog is currently located): Switzerland Breeding country: Switzerland Contact address: Lou Münger, Chemin des Vignes 3, 1789 Lugnorre, 86

About Hades

What life with Hades looks like

Hades is a medium-sized young adult australian shepherd dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hades, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hades?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hades on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hades if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hades already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hades isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hades and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
