Adopt Vento de la Forêt des Barussels

Australian Shepherd · Male · Adult · 8 years

When we saw Vento arriving at the shelter, muzzled, tied to his collar, harness, and kept short... we thought we were seeing a wild animal coming out of the car. He had not been groomed for at least several months. It took us several hours, under sedation, to get through all these tangles and the mass of dead hair that had accumulated. Finally we discovered a dog under this mass of fur. A small dog, frightened, ready to defend himself to save his life. It took a lot of time and patience to gain his trust. For him to appreciate our presence, then our caresses. The adaptation with the other dogs was not easy either. Before even getting to know these other animals of the same species, Vento would attack them, ready to bite. On this point too, patience and the correct corrections from our dogs allowed Vento to gain confidence and learn to communicate with them without aggression. As a result, Vento can now move in a group and enjoy it, he is the first to start the games with his companions. Despite all his progress, Vento remains a special dog, one that must be handled and understood. He has a great need to be trusted and properly guided. Once his trust is given, he shows great affection. His obedience is excellent and allows him to walk without a leash. He absolutely needs a reassuring living environment, away from the stress of the city. There is no doubt that Vento will be the ideal companion for a person who is misanthropic and loves nature and its tranquility. Profile we are looking for: • Serious, responsible, and very present adopters • An appropriate living environment suited to his needs, in the countryside • Good knowledge of canine behavior • A home without children or cats If you are interested

What life with Vento de la Forêt des Barussels looks like

Vento de la Forêt des Barussels is a small adult australian shepherd dog waiting at SPA Le Locle in Le Locle.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

How do I contact the shelter about Vento de la Forêt des Barussels?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Le Locle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vento de la Forêt des Barussels on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vento de la Forêt des Barussels if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Le Locle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vento de la Forêt des Barussels already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vento de la Forêt des Barussels isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Le Locle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vento de la Forêt des Barussels and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
