over: 🍀 And other dogs: only as the 2nd or 3rd dog And other animals: must be tried Kids: no! Dog experience: dog experience required (with insecure, anxious dogs) Problems: inflexible, must build trust, takes a quick dip under stress Hello together, my name is Hades. I was originally seized, but now I can search for a new home. If you're looking for a sporty, active, overexcited Mali, you're completely wrong. I am sporty to be thrilled for hiking, jogging, or similar, but I don't see myself in dog sports at the moment. Since I was stressed here at the animal shelter and didn't want to gain weight, I was allowed to move to a foster home. I'm now putting on weight and eating regularly. Slowly I'm thawing out, becoming more playful, and learning to be a dog again and not constantly afraid of everything. At my foster home, there are two nice girl dogs who help me enjoy life again. At first, I was very insecure and didn't want to be touched by you strangers. But when the girl dogs go to look, I also dare to look. Here I've also learned a lot: - I ride well in the car, even though I still find it a bit creepy, I do it very reliably for my circumstances. - I can stay alone after an adjustment period. - I can reliably stay on my blanket, even if you have a visitor. - I walk well on the leash and am happy to let you take the lead. - I don't bark and am generally a rather quiet roommate. - I go very well to the vet. - I am of course house-trained. But of course I also have a few requirements for you: - You must already have a quiet, well-behaved, neutered, social female dog at home (a male dog would also work, but it depends on the chemistry). I don't like being in the spotlight and that would unsettle me. - You should have a rather boring everyday life. Chaos always drains me and I have to recover from it. - Try to have a similar daily routine so I can orient myself. We're working hard to make me more flexible, but it takes time. - 1-2 trusted people would be perfect for me. - No children in the home, that would be too stressful for me and would quickly affect my weight.

vorbei: 🍀 Andere Hunde: nur als 2. oder 3. Hund Andere Tiere: muss man probieren Kinder: nein!

About Hades

What life with Hades looks like

Hades is a young adult german shepherd dog waiting at Tierheim Stuttgart in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hades, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hades?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stuttgart handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hades on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hades if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stuttgart will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hades already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hades isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stuttgart early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hades and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
