Hagen

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Friendly, people-oriented, active, eager to learn, compatible. VIDEO Update July 2024: Hagen is developing well. He is becoming more attentive and calmer. There are still moments when he becomes excited, but in a way this is normal and is certainly not as pronounced as at the beginning. When he calms down, he radiates an incredible calmness. At home, Hagen quickly and easily finds his calm. He can now be left alone for hours without problems. In environments that are not familiar to him, he needs some time to calm down, but he is getting better at this. For example, Hagen has already been in cafes, restaurants or just at friends. This has always worked well, although he then needs quite a long time to calm down. If there are cats nearby, it is pure stress for Hagen and we try to avoid this. Children are also a challenge because he is very insecure around small children. However, if he is given the security that someone will watch over him and that the children won't approach him, he can also calm down in the presence of children. Older children are no problem. Also, walking on a leash is getting better. He is more attentive and understands what I expect from him. Hagen has no problems with other dogs. He got along well with our dogs from the beginning and this has not changed. Of course, there have been moments where one of the dogs did not like something. However, they have always resolved it among themselves in the shortest time without much fuss. Hagen is quite submissive and would rather avoid such situations. When Hagen came to Germany, he was quite thin. Over the past few months, he has gained weight well and now looks more formal and healthier. As already mentioned, love is most important for Hagen. He enjoys every cuddle to the fullest and would like to cuddle all day. Hagen was brought to us by the community because he was no longer tolerated at the place where he was before. He is a very active dog and doesn't really know where to put his energy. He is compatible with other dogs, but our other dogs in the animal shelter cannot cope with his extremely lively and excited manner. Therefore, we had to separate Hagen from the other dogs. Hagen should get an active home and with the right stimulation, he could become a wonderful companion. Dog sports, agility, tracking or similar would probably be exactly right for him. He is totally friendly and full of energy. In the animal shelter, he is naturally not challenged and gets bored. Hagen wants to please and is very eager to learn. He only needs the right person by his side. All are vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog placed makes room for another dog that has to live its life hungry and weakened.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Hagen

What life with Hagen looks like

Hagen is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hagen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hagen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hagen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hagen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hagen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hagen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hagen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
