Hailey

American Staffordshire Terrier · Female · Adult · 6 years

Hailey is a very social, lovely, cozy and active purebred American Staffordshire Terrier who is almost 4 years old. She loves people, watching TV on the couch and going for long forest walks. This is an attentive girl motivated by treats who seeks a lot of contact & closeness with her family and is a fantastic mix of energy bundle and sofa potato! With her wonderful personality, she offers plenty of laughter and love (and some opinions) but has a clear language and more than happy to share space in both the couch and bed. On walks, she often walks nicely on a leash and does not make any attacks against people or dogs, but can sometimes become a bit draggy as she loves people so much that she would love to come forward and greet-but if you just catch her up and work preventively, she is easy to get along with and find alternative solutions. We think Hailey would have enjoyed running, trying some game scent or nosework in her new home and really wants to follow her new family on adventures and cozy outings! Previous homes have not done any allergy investigation on her, but have experienced that she is sensitive to chicken and duck, as well as pollen and mold which means that Hailey needs to think about what she eats, and the new home may need maintenance treatment at certain times with for example washing paws, skin and/or ears. She is not particularly fond of the water jet in the shower, but the rest of the handling such as drying with a towel, lubricating paws and nail clipping works fine when she has a relationship with humans, and of course lots of treats are offered! Hailey can also be afraid of loud noises and bangs and should therefore not live where there is a high risk that she needs to be exposed to this. Our charming Hailey is looking for a home that would preferably have experience with the breed beforehand and does not live too centrally considering her fear of noise. Otherwise, we see Haileys new family who would like to do things with their dog; cozy forest walks interspersed with some form of mental activity and of course someone who likes to have his dog snoring next to him in bed. Hailey can certainly live in both an apartment and a house, as well as with dog-savvy teenagers and should also work with cat-savvy cats since she was reportedly raised with a cat and it worked well in her previous home.

SV·Show original

About Hailey

What life with Hailey looks like

Hailey is a large adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
