Halyna

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Halyna is approximately 2.5-3 years old and weighs 25 kg. She is a small-built female dog, very strongly in the German Shepherd type. She is alert, quick-witted, observes her surroundings carefully and has huge reserves of energy. This is a dog that needs exercise, activity and the opportunity to explore the world, so she will best find herself with people who are aware of the needs of an active, energetic dog. In the shelter, Halyna gets very excited at the sight of other dogs. She barks, reacts strongly to their presence and it is clear that she is accompanied by considerable frustration resulting from the limited possibility of releasing energy. She behaves completely differently during walks. As soon as she leaves the shelter box, she calms down clearly, focuses on sniffing, observes the terrain and can use her energy in a natural way for herself. On a leash, she can pull on an interesting smell, but this is nothing surprising in the case of a young dog with such a great need for exploration and activity. We are looking for a home for Halyna without young children, because she is very lively and in a fit of joy or excitement could accidentally knock them over or run into them. We also do not see her in a home with other animals. Future caregivers should be ready to work with a dog that needs regular walks, the opportunity to sniff, explore new places and the right amount of daily activity. Halyna came to the shelter with a low weight, so she still eats her meals very greedily. Despite this, we have not observed any aggression related to food. Both shelter staff and volunteers could easily be around her during feeding, approach her or establish contact. Halyna is open to people, she is happy to be stroked even by people she has not met before, and she does not show aggressive behavior towards them. She is an intelligent, energetic female dog with great potential, who will be a wonderful companion for an active life in the right home.

PL·Show original

About Halyna

What life with Halyna looks like

Halyna is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Czekadełko in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Halyna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Halyna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Czekadełko handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Halyna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Halyna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Czekadełko will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Halyna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Halyna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Czekadełko early rather than rehoming privately; they know Halyna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
