Hamilton

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Monsen Hamilton (f. 2015) Hann | 10 years | Not suitable with children | Suitable with other FIV+ cats | Indoor cat Hamilton is a calm, well-mannered tomcat in his best age. He is short-haired and gray with white markings and a little bit of fluff. When he came to us, he was very scared and hid a lot. Eventually, he fortunately realized that people are not so scary. Get to know Hamilton Hamilton has lived in a foster home for quite a long time, but he had to move to the Help Center this summer. At first, he was quite shy, but now the volunteers can cuddle him a lot and he has shown himself to be a big sweet cuddle. Hamilton wishes for a home with one or two quiet, adult people. He is not suitable for a family with small children. Hamilton is FIV-positive and therefore should be an indoor cat. He will probably think it's great to have a small air courtyard or enclosed porch where he can get some fresh air. Hamilton has had a health check and senior check with blood tests and urine test. He is neutered and microchipped. He is not vaccinated, since FIV-positive cats should not get vaccines. Animal Protection Norway Tromsø charges an adoption fee of 2000 kroner for all adult cats, which is less than half of what a private person would pay in veterinary expenses for microchipping, vaccination and neutering of a cat. The package price at the veterinary clinics in Tromsø for a male cat is about kr. 4000, while for a female cat you have to pay about kr. 6000. So you save a lot of money by getting a cat from Animal Protection! Interested people can contact on

About Hamilton

What life with Hamilton looks like

Hamilton is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø in Tromsø.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hamilton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hamilton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hamilton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hamilton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hamilton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hamilton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hamilton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
