adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hanno has finally found a home! His story: Hanno – a Snow White dream! Hanno is loving, open, friendly, and gets along with everyone. The friendly Hanno is about 2.5 years old and around 60-65cm tall. Hanno is not so much the go-getter type, but rather calm and laid-back. Hanno gets along well with all his fellow animals, whether male or female dogs. He lived in the shelter in Bistrita before, where he had to grow up, as he came to the animal shelter as a little puppy and had to spend his youth there. Therefore, we hope very much that this friendly puppy can finally find a home. Hanno loves treats and therefore we can imagine that he will learn his first commands quickly with positive learning experiences and treats. But for that, of course, he needs his own family first. Hanno would also be happy to make his first training experiences in a positive working dog training class with you. Hanno is still a bit in his teenage years. Boundaries are being tested, and already learned things are sometimes forgotten. The hormones are playing tricks. It is important to support the ward with love and a lot of patience during this phase. With an education based on positive reinforcement, the foundation for a good bond and deep trust is laid. Respect, understanding, and care are especially important in this phase. A visit to a dog training class is particularly helpful for development in this phase. There, he can gather positive experiences under supervision and train the dog ABC with his person. This is not only fun but also strengthens the bond between dog and person. Hanno wishes for a rural home with a house and garden, preferably in a rural location. He does not like closed doors and wants to decide for himself whether to go in or out. Therefore, a securely fenced property is a prerequisite. He looks forward to beautiful walks and extensive cuddle hours with his people. It cannot be ruled out that Hanno will show kitchen guardian dog traits when he has settled into his home. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home for Hanno that has experience with these traits or is willing to deal with them and brings the optimal conditions. Hanno is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has an EU pet passport. He is available for adoption. Will you give your heart and a loving home to Hanno? Then don't hesitate and contact us! He can be visited at his current foster home. Thank you, Monika V., for giving him a name and thus an identity. As of: 04.05.

Stand: 04.05.2024

About Hanno

What life with Hanno looks like

Hanno is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hanno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hanno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hanno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hanno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hanno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hanno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hanno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
