Happy

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Happy – a name full of hope, which still has room to grow. Happy is about four months old and part of a small litter of six puppies – three males and three females – who are currently waiting together in the kennel for their chance. Her first months of life are not spent in safety, but in the animal shelter. This is not the right place for a puppy. Her name sounds cheerful – and exactly that describes the hope she carries inside. So far, Happy is very cautious, shy, and reserved. She prefers to step back a bit, observe quietly, and seek protection. She knows little about life with humans, closeness, touch, and everyday routines. She is not socialized and does not yet know that a dog's life can also be easy and beautiful. Happy's mother was a Mastiff mix, so she also has the potential to develop into a calm, balanced dog – if she is given time, security, and a gentle start in life now. Right now, Happy is in her crucial imprinting phase. The foundation for her entire life is being laid in these weeks. Now she needs people who gently show her that the world is not only uncertain, but also offers safety, structure, and trust. For Happy, we are looking for people with heart, patience, and inner calm. People who are aware of this special task, who bring time, structure, and understanding, and do not expect anything – except small steps. People who allow her to arrive at her own pace and let trust grow. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. There is so much potential in Happy for trust, attachment, and a stable, loving dog life – so that her name one day truly becomes reality. We wish for Happy a loving home or a suitable foster placement that shows her that a dog's life does not have to be hard – but warm, safe, and full of quiet moments of happiness. Are you the person who shows Happy how beautiful a life full of trust can be? Then feel free to contact her assigned mediator. Here is Happy's video Here is Video 2

DE·Show original

Genau darin steckt so viel Potenzial.

About Happy

What life with Happy looks like

Happy is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Happy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Happy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Happy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Happy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Happy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Happy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Happy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
