Happy

Mixed Breed · Female

Happy – a name that sounds like joy, ease, and a carefree life. But until now, the little mixed-breed female dog had very little chance to live up to her name, for her start in life was far from happy: she was found in Romania with a broken jaw. How long she traveled with this painful injury and what experiences she had in her previous life, we can only imagine. Today, Happy lives in our partner shelter in Romania and has fortunately left the hardest times behind. Thanks to the loving care and medical treatment on site, her jaw fracture has fully healed. Although a slight displacement remains, it does not affect Happy – she can still eat, play, and enjoy her life. Happy is an exceptionally lovable, friendly, and charming mixed-breed female dog who wins the hearts of people with her cheerful nature quickly. She meets her surroundings curiously and attentively, loves small discovery tours, and with her lively character, she always creates beautiful moments in the shelter life. At the same time, she is a sensitive female dog who initially meets strangers with caution and needs a moment to build trust and feel safe. Once she has won your heart, she shows clingy, loyal behavior and enjoys the company of her trusted people very much. In the animal shelter, Happy shows a friendly, social, and good-natured attitude towards her fellow animals. Cats are also accepted by her, so she could share her future home with animal roommates. Despite her lovable nature, one must not forget that Happy is a dog from an animal shelter. Life in Germany will bring her many new impressions and challenges. Everyday things that seem obvious to most dogs, Happy may need to learn and understand first. Walks on a leash, traffic, strange noises, visits to the vet, or being alone – all of this can initially cause insecurity. Therefore, we are looking for Happy for patient and empathetic people who recognize that behind every small insecurity lies a female dog who does her best and simply still needs to learn that the world can be friendly. We wish for the sweet lady dog people who understand the needs of an animal shelter dog and do not expect everything to work immediately. Instead, their new family should enjoy building trust together and mastering the small and big challenges of daily life with Happy.

About Happy

What life with Happy looks like

Happy is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for lost Souls e.V. in Kleinostheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Happy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Happy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for lost Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Happy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Happy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for lost Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Happy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Happy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for lost Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Happy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
