Adopt Happy

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Happy is a very friendly Labrador-mixed breed who is currently in our partner shelter Hogar de Asís and is waiting for a wonderful home with Labbi-fans who would like to go through life with him. Originally, he was found alone on the street by children in La Carolina. Happy was just as happy about the encounter as the children, but of course, it had to be clarified where he belonged. Since he didn’t have a chip or a collar, he was taken into the care of our animal welfare partner Tere. Upon arrival at the animal shelter, it was clear: This dog must be named Happy! From the very first day, he presented himself exactly as his name suggests – cheerful, open, playful, and social. In short: a true guarantee for good mood. Actually, we don’t need to write much more, because it’s enough if you watch his cute videos below to fall in love with this funny little guy. There are many more videos of Happy showing his friendly nature. Since we can’t upload all of them to this homepage, we will of course be happy to send them to you if you show serious interest. Happy shares his run with another dog, which works out great. In his new home, an already compatible only dog or a small group of dogs can already be present, but it doesn’t have to be. Since Happy finds people at least as well as other dogs, he can also be a happy prince as the sole dog. In the mornings, all the dogs can go out together into the large run. Here, his Labrador heart does joyful leaps when a bowl of water is ready for him (see videos below). Water and balls are his two great passions. Watching him is simply a huge joy, and we wish him so much that he finds a family, a couple, or an individual who appreciates his wonderful nature.

About Happy

What life with Happy looks like

Happy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Happy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Happy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Happy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Happy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Happy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Happy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Happy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
