Harley

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Harley is a lovable 7-year-old Mastiff cross Labrador with the heart of a puppy and the soul of a snuggler. She was found as a stray and taken to the Pound, along with her doggy friend, Louie. A wonderful group called Pound Pullers reached out to us and asked if we could help the two dogs as their time was running out. With Harley being such a big girl and also black, the chances of her finding a safe place or home were less than usual. So many people are put off by dark faced animals, and being gorgeously huge, didn’t help! We were committed to finding the right place for her no matter how long that took. Within weeks it was clear that Harley decided she would very much like to live with Nicky and Paul who have experience of labs and larger dogs. A huge sigh of relief at the Sanctuary as this means we all see more of her whilst saving some biscuits for the other dogs. Harley has turned out to be super friendly with people and other dogs, she’s a true social butterfly who greets every visitor at the door—usually carrying one of her beloved soft toys as a welcome gift. A proud couch potato, Harley is happiest lounging in comfort, especially if it involves big cuddles and belly rubs. She’s known for her signature move: perching on the arm of the sofa like a mountain goat, patiently waiting for your attention and affection. Harley is food-motivated and adores her treats, but she’s also playful and enjoys a good game of fetch with tennis balls or footballs. Just don’t expect her to befriend any cats or squirrels—those are not on her list of favourites. Despite her age, Harley has the playful spirit of a puppy and gets excited for her daily walks. In fact, she’ll often bring you her harness and lead when she’s ready to head out on an adventure. She is content and loved – what more could she ask for (perhaps a treat or two more!)

About Harley

What life with Harley looks like

Harley is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Waggy Tails Rescue in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Harley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Harley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Waggy Tails Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Harley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Harley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Waggy Tails Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Harley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Harley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Waggy Tails Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Harley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
