Harrison & Herbert

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten · 4 months

Harrison & Herbert could live with children aged 10+ and will require outdoor access. They could be rehomed together as a pair, or separately as individuals. They could potentially live with other cats. Harrison & Herbert are a lovely, friendly and inquisitive pair of young boys who love to explore! They were initially quite overwhelmed by their arrival to the shelter, and spent the first few days hiding away and not eating much. Now that they’ve settled in and found their feet in their new environment, they are gaining more and more confidence every day and love being made a fuss of by the staff members who they’re familiar with. They do still remain easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movements, so they would be best suited to a home with older children. Although the boys are currently together at the shelter, they aren’t particularly bonded and so, whilst they can live together, they would also be happy to be rehomed separately if necessary. These sweet little chaps are still very much kittens and need a home who are prepared for the energetic mischief that comes with youngsters! They need a family who can offer them the patience, understanding and gentle encouragement they need when they first go home and are adjusting to their new surroundings. We have no doubt that it won’t take them long to settle in and they will soon be rewarding their forever family with tons of love, laughter and entertainment!

About Harrison & Herbert

What life with Harrison & Herbert looks like

Harrison & Herbert is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Harrison & Herbert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Harrison & Herbert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Harrison & Herbert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Harrison & Herbert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Harrison & Herbert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Harrison & Herbert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Harrison & Herbert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
