Harry

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Harry has found a new home! His story: Harry settled in quickly in his foster home and is an inquisitive, active, and people-oriented companion in everyday life. The handsome young fellow is currently around 9 months old. Judging by his appearance, Harry could be a Labrador mix. Harry is always eager to be involved and seeks a lot of physical contact. As soon as you crouch down, he comes right up to you and gives you many kisses on the face, and he would like to be stroked on his head or better all over his body. He is friendly and open to strangers and even small children, and he also lets them touch him. His favorite spot is right in front of someone, where he stares at them with his big, dark brown eyes until he gets a scratch behind the ear. At night, he sleeps through and is house-trained. He is not a couch potato and has made many friends on longer walks within a short time. His excitement about the food is also a highlight. You can see how much he looks forward to feeding time, especially at the last few steps to the front door. Here, Harry also shows how well he can wait patiently while we prepare the food, something he has learned to do very well. When it comes to dog encounters outside, Harry is very excited at first but is always friendly and wags his tail wildly. With some training, he will surely learn to stay calm. He longs for great playmates and would also be happy with a "only dog." His leash manners are getting better every day. Harry loves it when you praise him, then he is overjoyed and wants to give you a big hug. He is very affectionate with children, but due to his young age, he can sometimes be a bit wild during play. Through daily training with him, we have already set boundaries that he generally adheres to well. Nevertheless, Harry always wants to be right in the middle of things rather than just being there – he longs for a loving family that will integrate him into their daily life as a family member. Harry is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He was named by his godmother Kim, and we are grateful to her for giving him a name and identity. As of: 25.12.

Stand: 25.12.2024

About Harry

What life with Harry looks like

Harry is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Harry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Harry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Harry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Harry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Harry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Harry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Harry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
