Hatie du piton des neiges

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 13 years

My neighbor's cat who no longer likes to be at home (with a baby and a new dog). A 13-year-old Persian chinchilla. Initially (around 3 years old), she just came to eat, then she settled on my terrace. She ended up staying through the winter by taking refuge under the house, a hole that Didou dug. Her fur was matted, she looked like a turtle. Ticks, fleas, a large ulcer on her right eye. I waited to get her identification card back to vaccinate her, and when the first cold weather came, I brought her into the house. Almost immediately, conjunctivitis, then diarrhea... hospitalization: four days of intravenous treatment, full blood workup (including thyroid), FIV and FeLV rapid tests negative. It was a parasitosis managed by Panacur. I had never dewormed her and apparently her owner hadn't either. She would need a dehairing but I will wait, I feel she is fragile.

What life with Hatie du piton des neiges looks like

Hatie du piton des neiges is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Les Chats du hasard in Saint-Orens-de-Gameville.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hatie du piton des neiges, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hatie du piton des neiges?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Les Chats du hasard handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hatie du piton des neiges on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hatie du piton des neiges if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Les Chats du hasard will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hatie du piton des neiges already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hatie du piton des neiges isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Les Chats du hasard early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hatie du piton des neiges and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
