Hawk

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hawk can travel directly into his own family! His story: Busag, Romania. A glance says more than a thousand words. What have you, little Hawk, experienced, looking so scared in part into the camera? Unfortunately, we know nothing about your past. But you are now in safety. Currently, Hawk lives in a Romanian foster home. He gets along well with dogs and cats. Under no circumstances should Hawk end up back at the shelter, now that he is beginning to trust people, as can be seen in the photos. Hawk is likely to be of medium size. From the appearance, it could be a Labrador mix. Hawk searches for emphatic people who give him enough time to adjust and do not expect anything from him at first. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or two mishaps should not be held against him and Hawk should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to the dog training classes. However, because of his fearfulness, nothing should be rushed and Hawk should be allowed to set the pace. Puppies should be with their parents as little as possible in the first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They “forget” often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on high alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Hawk travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas with his EU pet passport in his luggage. He will, after a positive home check, be ready to go to his new home. Has Hawk caught your interest? A foster home would already be a start. Thank you, Claudia D.! You gave Hawk his name and thus an identity.

About Hawk

What life with Hawk looks like

Hawk is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hawk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hawk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hawk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hawk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hawk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hawk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hawk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
