Adopt Heart

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Hera is a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois weighing around 32kg. She was imported from France to Romania as a puppy, likely for breeding. She has clearly had puppies, and her teeth are uniformly filed down - a quiet but heartbreaking reminder of the life she endured before rescue. Our volunteers met Hera in October during a visit to a Romanian kill shelter. We were told she had been “left while her family were on holiday,” but they never returned. The fact that her pedigree paperwork was left behind suggests they never intended to collect her. Hera had simply been discarded. Despite everything, Hera’s spirit remains beautifully intact. She is good with other dogs and could happily live with canine companions or as the only dog soaking up all the love. She walks wonderfully on the lead, proudly showing off her skills on her journey from the shelter to safety. She has not been tested with children or cats. Most importantly, Hera is now spayed. She will never again be used to produce puppies for profit. That chapter of her life is closed forever, and her future is finally her own. What truly makes Hera special is her affection. She loves to stand up, gently hook her front legs over your arm, and lean in for the sweetest cuddles - her own special way of hugging you. She is intelligent, loyal, and deeply people-focused, ready to bond wholeheartedly with her forever family.
