Heidi

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 4 years

This lovely young cat is called Heidi and is around 4 years old. She is finding life in the cattery a little overwhelming. She is currently spending much of her time hiding away, so we are giving her the time, patience and space she needs to feel safe and begin to settle. We have limited information about her past, although she is reported to be sociable with people. We hope that, as her confidence grows, she will begin to interact with us more. For now, we haven’t been able to fully assess her personality, so any potential adopter will need to be understanding and open-minded about how she may develop as she becomes more comfortable. She will need a calm, quiet home with patient owners who are happy to let her settle at her own pace without putting pressure on her. An adult-only household would be ideal, although a home with a calm, considerate teenager may also be suitable. She would prefer to be the only pet in the home, where she can enjoy a peaceful environment and have the space to build her confidence. Once she is ready to explore the outdoors, access to a shed or garage where she can shelter would be a bonus, particularly if she chooses to spend a lot of time outside. With time, understanding and a gentle approach, we hope she will gradually feel safe enough to show us more of her lovely personality and begin to enjoy life in a home of her own.

About Heidi

What life with Heidi looks like

Heidi is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heidi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heidi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heidi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heidi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Heidi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heidi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heidi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
