Heiko

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Heiko – a loving, friendly, and charming young male dog, as they say. Heiko was simply abandoned on our premises. He was full of fleas, but the imprint of a collar was still clearly visible. And we are completely baffled as to how someone could just dispose of such a wonderful little fellow. Heiko is just 30 cm tall and weighs 8 kg. He is approximately 2 years old and has the best years of a dog's life ahead of him. He has beautiful dark fur and a cheerful little face. Heiko is gentle and super friendly. He is used to being surrounded by people and loves any kind of attention. He would rather be stroked all day. However, he is never pushy, but waits with angelic patience until he finally gets stroked. Additionally, he is eager to learn and smart. Even though Heiko probably already had a home, we do not know how he lived there and what he was able to learn. With the leash, he already handles himself very well, but it seemed to be new territory for him. Similarly, it could be new territory for him with house training, car rides, or even staying home alone. Therefore, we are looking for people who are willing to show the sweet little fellow the world and its rules. A positively working dog training class would also be a great opportunity for the smart puppy to learn more, have contact with other dogs, and at the same time deepen your bond. Do you want the happy little nose to soon be happily trotting through your home? Then we are very much looking forward to your message. We would also be delighted about a loving foster home that wants to offer Heiko a stepping stone. Thank you, dear Michael V.D.R., for your nametag sponsorship. Thanks to you, Heiko not only has a cute name but also a real chance. As of: 03.06. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Heiko

What life with Heiko looks like

Heiko is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heiko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heiko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heiko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heiko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Heiko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heiko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heiko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
