Hektor

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello, I'm Hektor – a few-year-old male who has been through a lot. I arrived at the animal shelter on February 6, 2026, after an intervention with the assistance of the County Veterinary Inspector. When I got here, I was extremely underweight and in very poor condition. I was taken to the Veterinary Center, where they did a detailed diagnosis and started treatment. Currently, the animal shelter staff and doctors are feeding me the best meals to regain my strength. I am very friendly with people and love closeness. I have energy that I need to learn to use properly, and I still need to learn to rest. A physiotherapist recommended exercises for me that will improve my posture and mobility, so we work on them every day. I know there's a long road ahead of me, but I don't give up – we're fighting together! What kind of owner do I need? Hektor is looking for a mature and responsible home, which: - has experience with a larger dog or is ready to learn together with him - understands that I need time, consistency, and routine - will provide me with a calm, stable environment and security - will give me attention to help me build confidence and a relationship - will continue the exercises and rehabilitation recommended by the physiotherapist - understands that I am in the process of regaining my strength and health I am not a "temporary" dog – I need a person who will stay with me for a long time and be by my side. Cześć, jestem Hektor – kilkuletni samiec, który przeszedł naprawdę wiele. Trafiłem do schroniska 6 lutego 2026 roku po odebraniu interwencyjnym w asyście Powiatowego Inspektora Weterynarii. Kiedy tu dotarłem, byłem skrajnie wychudzony i w bardzo złym stanie. Zostałem przewieziony do Centrum Weterynaryjnego, gdzie zrobiono mi szczegółową diagnostykę i rozpoczęto leczenie. Obecnie personel schroniska i lekarze dokarmiają mnie najlepszymi posiłkami, by odbudować moje siły. About Hektor

What life with Hektor looks like

Hektor is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hektor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hektor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hektor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hektor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hektor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hektor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hektor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
