helen

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Helen is a lovely little black cat who has come a long way since arriving in her foster home. Initially she was very shy and happiest hiding in a corner, but she has gradually come out of her shell and revealed herself to be a real sweetheart. She's now a proper lap cat who loves nothing more than curling up on you for a cuddle and a nap. She's also a big fan of food and treats, and she'll happily announce when it's mealtime! Helen also has a playful side, and her favourite game is chasing a dangling string, which she could quite happily do for ages. She still appreciates having a quiet, cosy space where she feels safe, but with a little patience and encouragement, her confidence continues to grow. When she finds her forever home, we think with time she will really blossom, knowing she can settle in at home own pace. She's a gentle, affectionate little companion with plenty of love to give. Due to her shy side, we think she will be best suited to a home without young children, and with someone who gives her space while she learns to trust you.

About helen

What life with helen looks like

helen is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at London Inner City Kitties in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting helen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about helen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. London Inner City Kitties handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw helen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt helen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — London Inner City Kitties will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is helen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if helen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with London Inner City Kitties early rather than rehoming privately; they know helen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
