adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Henry has found a home! His story: 29410 Whiskers/Salzwedel. The wonderful Henry could travel to a pension in January and is looking forward to your visit! He is open, playful, beautiful, and loving with all people and animals. Originally from Bistrita, Romania, it was very hard for the wonderful male dog to be confined in a small pen here. When he was allowed into the yard, he would play to his heart's content and radiate with joy. Back in the pen, his eyes would become sad… Henry wished from the bottom of his heart for a family where he could be happy. At about 2 years old, Henry is still a young pup with many ideas in his head. He stands about 63-65cm at the shoulder and is compatible with all other dogs. He is friendly and very cuddly with people. Children should be at least a bit bigger and more stable, as he still likes to jump on people because he is very eager for contact. Henry is a very smart little guy, waiting for his one chance and hoping to be discovered soon. Henry has no art-appropriate life and must still learn everything. He wishes for people who will lead him through his new life and train him with a positively reinforcing training style. He wishes for a rural home with a garden where he can run and play. We assume that Henry brings herding dog qualities. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home that either already has experience with these qualities or is willing to deal with them and above all bring the optimal conditions. Herding dogs bring wonderful qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want any other breeds, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. He wishes for a rural home with an enclosed garden where he can lie and play. And of course, beautiful walks with subsequent cuddle hours. Our Henry is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings his valid EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive Schenkei Henry your heart and a loving home? Many thanks to Pauline H.! You gave Henry his name and thus an identity! Many thanks to Jörg R., Corinna M, and Melanie S.! You support Henry with a monthly sponsorship!

About Henry

What life with Henry looks like

Henry is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
