Adopt Henryk

Male · Senior · 15 years

A look from Henryk is overwhelming! All Henryk is overwhelming. Especially when he starts to play and roll in the grass. There is no longer that endless sadness that he came to us with. He is quickly becoming a favorite of the volunteers. Because Henryk is a wonderful, calm and gentle dog who likes people. Despite rather uninteresting experiences with this species. He walks slowly, paw by paw, so he will not need long and exhausting walks. Rather regular ones, to be able to stretch old bones and practice his paws. He will be happy with a warm bed, a full bowl, and a person nearby. As a dog who spent his life on a leash, and not as a family member, he does not expect much from the world. We would really like someone to show him what a real home and real love are.

Raczej regularnych, by móc rozprostować stare kości i poćwiczyć łapki. Biuro Przyjęć i Adopcji 228681579

About Henryk

What life with Henryk looks like

Henryk is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Senior dog with mobility limitations, needs gentle exercise and comfortable bedding

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henryk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henryk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henryk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henryk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henryk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henryk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henryk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
