Hera

Female · Young · 1 year

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs ongoing support Can I be left alone? Yes Hera was sometimes left for long periods. She would sleep but could also chew items when she got bored. As she is an active, young dog, she could potentially be left for a few hours after a settling-in period and slowly building up to this. Do I have any medical conditions? None This pet has current medical concerns, namely skin and ear issues, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome this pet and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical concern, be that historic or ongoing, is discussed with your own vet prior to any book out appointment. Due to the nature of the medical concern, a vet call with one of our onsite vets will be required before the pet goes home. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? Yes Can I live with cats? No Can I live with small pets? Yes, conditionally - securely housed and kept separately Additional information Hera is very friendly with other dogs and loves to run around and play with them. She does get quite excited when she sees dogs on her walks and can sometimes get a bit frustrated or forget her manners. She would enjoy some doggie friends and could have visiting dogs to the home but is best as an only dog at the moment. Hera cannot live with cats but could possibly live with securely housed small pets kept separately. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Hera can be worried by new people and some handling. She needs to live with children aged 11 years and above who can understand her sensitivities and give her space when needed. What type of environment would suit me? Hera needs a private, secure garden with a minimum of 6ft fencing where she can stretch her legs and play. About Hera Hera is a gorgeous girl with a beautiful, shiny black coat, complete with the sweetest little crinkled curls of hair on her toes and ears. But it’s her wonderfully expressive ears that really steal the show! Hera is an energetic, bouncy lady and absolutely loves being around her friends. She can be a little shy when first meeting new people, so she needs gentle introductions and a little time to build her confidence. Once she knows you, her happy, playful personality shines through.

About Hera

What life with Hera looks like

Hera is a small young adult dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
