Adopt Herkules

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello! I'm Herkules! I was born on October 21, 2020. I'm an Argentine dog – a big, strong dog with an even bigger heart. I've been at the animal shelter since April 19, 2024. I came here because something very bad happened in my previous home. I bit my caregiver... I know how that sounds, but believe me – I'm not a bad dog. I never wanted to hurt anyone. Unfortunately, I lived in constant stress. I was raised in an abusive way, using aversive tools. My needs were ignored – I lacked walks, proper exercise, opportunities for exploration, play, and even treatment, because for a long time I suffered from an allergy that no one treated. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore... Here, at the animal shelter, it's different. I feel safer and you know what? I don't show any aggressive behavior. I've met nice people who understand me and know I'm not a monster. I definitely feel better in the company of women – it's easier for me to trust them. Now I'm looking for a home, but not just any home. I need a caregiver who knows dogs like me – someone who knows what an Argentine dog needs and understands our nature. We are strong, intelligent, loyal dogs who are very devoted to their family. We love closeness, movement and working with humans, but we need clear rules and a guide who will lead us calmly and with respect. I know I'm not an easy case, so I'm looking for someone experienced who understands that dog training isn't about shock collars, choke chains or yelling. I need someone who will build trust and a relationship based on understanding and patience. I'm ready to work and learn, but I need someone who will help me – calmly and without violence. I also have my special health needs – I have to eat hypoallergenic food, otherwise my allergies come back like a boomerang. I'm castrated and apart from allergies I'm a healthy guy. If you feel that we could form a team and you're ready to give me a second chance, please get in touch! I dream of my person who will understand me and show me that life can be beautiful.

Cześć! Jestem Herkules! Jestem wykastrowany i poza alergiami jestem zdrowym chłopakiem.

About Herkules

What life with Herkules looks like

Herkules is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Herkules, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Herkules?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Herkules on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Herkules if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Herkules already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Herkules isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Herkules and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
