Hermine (approx. 50–55 cm) (To ensure that your completed application form is successfully submitted to us, you must absolutely accept cookies on our website. Otherwise, we won’t receive your self-disclosure.) The beautiful Hermine had actually already hit the jackpot: At just four months old and having spent only a few weeks in the shelter, she was adopted in Greece and moved into a loving family. Unfortunately, it has now become clear that cohabitation wasn’t sustainable in the long term. Hermine developed a strong passion for the family’s chickens and began to see them more as prey than as fellow household members. With a heavy heart, she was therefore returned to the shelter. Now, this young dog is once again searching for her happy ending. Hermine is a friendly, open-minded, people-oriented, and lively dog who thrives on attention and affection. She shows curiosity, energy, and a willingness to explore the world. After losing her home, she now longs for people who will give her a second chance and lovingly provide her with the security she deserves. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and displays a sociable and tolerant demeanor when interacting with her peers. Therefore, she could very well imagine living in a home with an already established, confident dog. For Hermine, we’re looking for a home without poultry or other small animals that might pique her interest. A house with a securely fenced garden would be ideal—but it’s not a strict requirement, provided that sufficient activity and exercise are offered. At the same time, however, Hermine also possesses traits that will require understanding, patience, and experience from her future owners. Her new humans should already have dog-experience and take great joy in accompanying a dog with a strong character in a confident yet loving manner. Since Hermine still needs to learn how to accept boundaries and channel her energy appropriately, children in the household should be at least 6 years old. Hermine has already experienced what it’s like to have a family. Now she hopes to find people who will never let her down again. We’ll gladly send videos upon request. Hermine travels spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and comes with an EU pet passport. If you rent your home, you must provide us with a written confirmation from your landlord stating that keeping a dog is indeed permitted. This important point should be clarified BEFORE submitting your adoption inquiry. A written confirmation from your landlord regarding dog ownership is a binding prerequisite for proceeding with the adoption process.

About Hermine

What life with Hermine looks like

Hermine is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hermine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hermine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hermine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hermine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hermine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hermine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hermine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
