HERTHA

Female · Kitten · 3 months

Hertha, a little stray kitten, is learning to enjoy playing with people and being petted. She is growing bolder each day and spends her time eating, sleeping, and playing with her siblings. Each of our youngest cats has its own unique character and is special in its own way. They are enchanting and can charm their caregivers and adopters. Watching these little creatures grow and develop is a joy, although they can certainly turn their rooms upside down. Our kittens and young cats are always rehomed in pairs or with an existing compatible cat for animal welfare reasons. We are happy to advise you on who would be a good match. All animals are vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed for a fee and are rehomed with a contract through the Osnabrück Cat Protection Association. We are very excited about your contact! Until you meet your desired candidate in person, you can observe Hertha and her roommates online via the webcams in (Room B1). You can also find news about many of our protégés, including photos and videos, on Instagram, Facebook, or our YouTube channel Katzenschutzbund Osnabrück e.V. There is always something going on in our cat house!

DE·Show original

In unserem Mietzhaus ist nämlich immer was los!

About HERTHA

What life with HERTHA looks like

HERTHA is a large puppy/kitten cat waiting at Katzenschutzbund in Brüggen-Bracht.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting HERTHA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HERTHA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenschutzbund handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HERTHA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HERTHA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenschutzbund will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is HERTHA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HERTHA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenschutzbund early rather than rehoming privately; they know HERTHA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
