Himen

Mixed Breed · Male

Himen is a beautiful large dog, endowed with a wonderful, open character. His friendly nature makes every interaction with him a pure pleasure. Himen loves walks and joyfully explores the world around him. Sometimes curiosity takes over and then he may pull harder on the leash, especially when something particularly interests him. He has a special affection for children - he is warm and gentle towards them, however, due to his energy and strength, caution is needed during walks. In moments of strong emotions, such as returning to "the box", it may happen that he lightly bites - this is an expression of his stress and difficulty in dealing with emotions, which we are still working on. Himen gets along well with other dogs, although he shows a strong desire for dominance and sometimes fights for it. He requires a caregiver who will be able to guide him in relationships with other dogs with sensitivity and consistency. Besides his looks, Himen impresses with intelligence - he learns quickly and gladly acquires new commands and tricks. He is a wonderful candidate not only as a loyal companion, but also as a dog who, with proper guidance, can achieve really a lot. We are looking for a caregiver for Himen, who will help him develop his full potential with patience, understanding, and heart, and create a wonderful, lasting bond with him.

PL·Show original

Himen to przepiękny pies większych rozmiarów, obdarzony wspaniałym, otwartym charakterem. Wymaga opiekuna, który z wyczuciem i konsekwencją będzie potrafił poprowadzić go w relacjach z innymi czworonogami.

About Himen

What life with Himen looks like

Himen is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Czekadełko in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Himen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Himen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Czekadełko handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Himen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Himen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Czekadełko will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Himen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Himen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Czekadełko early rather than rehoming privately; they know Himen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
