Hina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

At first unsure, then Kasperl Gender: female, neutered Birthdate: August 2022 Size: slightly under knee-high Compatible with dogs: yes Compatible with children in the same household: possible, quiet teenagers possible Home sought: currently with a garden, on the outskirts of town or in the countryside The initially unsure, 2022-born mixed-breed female dog Hina needs a getting-to-know-you phase to overcome her insecurity, then becomes people-friendly and turns out to be a Kasperl. Hina can also be placed with quiet teenagers in the same household. Hina is compatible with other dogs but is very pushy and does not go away when the other dog demands it. The loving female dog is house-trained but has not yet learned to wear a harness and therefore cannot yet be walked on a leash. For this reason, we are currently seeking a home with a garden for Hina where she can walk during the initial phase, on the quiet outskirts of town or in the countryside with patient people who understand and respect her body language and do not overwhelm her.

About Hina

What life with Hina looks like

Hina is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
