Holly

Female · Young · 2 years

Personality:Our wonderful ‘Princess’ Holly has been spending some time being assessed in a foster home and is now ready to find her forever family. She has been a fantastic companion in the home, she is funny, super clever and loves training, she’s very affectionate and loves to snooze on your lap. Holly has surprised us all with how well she has settled, she sleeps through the night walks well on the lead, is an absolute joy to train and picks up new skills really quickly. She loves other dogs and has made lots of walking buddies here at the centre. She loves her toys and will keep herself amused with self play and enjoys a good game of tug. Behaviour:Like many dogs, Holly has a high prey drive and is particularly interested in small fury animals so will need a handler who is committed to channeling these instincts in a positive way. She is learning to control her impulses amazingly well around food and other resources and we hope this can be transferred into helping with her prey drive but will need someone strong enough to hold onto her should she attempt to catch a squirrel. Holly is a little worried about the dark and going out in stormy weather, likely due to spending a long time in kennels but with support and understanding she is already making progress. Housing:Holly will need a fully enclosed garden with a minimum of 6 ft fencing to ensure she cannot escape to chase the wildlife. At the moment she sleeps downstairs in her foster home from 10pm to 7.45am. She cannot be rehomed to the PO12 area. Children/pets:Holly could live with other dogs pending successful meets here at the Ark. She could live with children age 16+ Vet history:Holly has allergies and is on a hypoallergenic diet along with trialing a new medication which is working beautifully. She has had her patella surgically repaired back in January but has recovered really well and is back to normal activity. Full details regarding Holly’s medical history will be provided to any potential adopter. She is fully vaccinated, mircochipped and up to date with flea and worming treatment and she will be spayed. Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £220. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

About Holly

What life with Holly looks like

Holly is a small young adult dog waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Holly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
