adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Holly has found her people! Her story: Holly, searching for her great happiness! At just 9 months old, she is a real bundle of energy, eagerly waiting to discover the world. She and her two sisters were simply abandoned in the forest and had to fend for themselves there completely alone. No one knows how long the three girls were on their own, but they made it and now live in safety with our dear animal rescuer Maria. Holly looks more like a small German Shepherd mix compared to her sisters. She is super alert and clever. With her current size of 30 cm, she is likely to stay small to medium in size. She is friendly with children, gets along well with other dogs, and even with cats. Holly still needs to learn life in the house, just like the whole dog 101: house training, walking on a leash, and everything else one needs to know. Additionally, she is in the middle of puberty – just like with us humans, hormones can sometimes cause a bit of rebellious behavior. Also, practicing being alone needs to be done in small, patient steps to avoid any loss of confidence. For Holly, we wish for a family that enjoys showing her the world patiently. A home that values her qualities and teaches her with lots of love and consistency. Holly needs mental stimulation too. She would definitely enjoy puzzle games, tracking training, or something similar. A garden where she can run around would of course be the absolute jackpot, but it is not a must. Holly is already looking forward to a cozy dog bed, many adventures in nature, and attending a dog training class where you both can discover which activities bring you the most joy. Holly travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated together with her EU-home animal certificate to her new home. Stand: 22.09. But also a foster home would be a good start to a happy future. Thank you, Tanja P.! You gave Holly a name and thus an identity. Stand: 22.09.

Stand: 22.09.2025

About Holly

What life with Holly looks like

Holly is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Holly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
