Adopt Homer

Male · Senior · 11 years

Homer – senior with a big heart ❤ Homer is a dog who steals hearts from the very first moments. In the kennel he barks, asking for a walk, and when he is next to a person, he becomes a real cuddler. He is extremely sensitive and trusting, loves pats, hugs, and closeness. At the shelter he can lie down next to the caretaker and hug him with his paw. During walks Homer is calm and balanced. He walks slowly but steadily, sniffs a lot and enjoys every stop. When he feels safe, he lies in the grass, shows his belly for petting, or joyfully rolls around. He does not react to other dogs, people or cyclists - he observes the world with a calm indifference. He is the ideal companion for someone who dreams of peaceful walks at a "slow life" pace. Homer is already old - we estimate at least ten years - and unfortunately has some health issues. Tests showed hypothyroidism, for which he has already started treatment. Apart from that, Homer is a dog in fairly good condition, and with careful care he will certainly be a joy to his company for a long time. He is an extraordinary senior - gentle, loyal and incredibly sensitive. The only thing he lacks is a home of his own, where he can rest after the hardships of life and fully show how loving a dog he really is. If you dream of a dog who will bring peace, warmth and great love into your life - Homer is waiting for you. We encourage you to follow our social media, where you will find more photos and videos of Homer:

To niezwykły senior – łagodny, wierny i niesamowicie czuły. About Homer

What life with Homer looks like

Homer is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Homer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Homer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Homer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Homer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Homer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Homer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Homer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
