Honden ter adoptie

Female · Young · 1 year

Penelope, this beautiful young and large lady is still patiently waiting for her own family. We estimate that she was born around January 2025. Despite her young age, she has already experienced a lot in her short life. In July of last year, Penelope came to the animal shelter of Sos Dogs Romania after being hit by a car. It was a difficult start, but this brave girl fought hard to recover. Fortunately, she has fully recovered from her injuries and has developed into a strong, cheerful, and loving dog. Because she arrived at the animal shelter in Romania so young, Penelope has actually grown up there. She knows very little about life outside the animal shelter, and therefore we especially hope that a family will soon come forward who wants to show her the world. She deserves to learn what it's like to have a real home. Penelope loves people and really enjoys attention, cuddles, and spending time together. She would love to have a family where she truly belongs and where she can be the center of attention. Penelope gets along well with other dogs. She likes to play and enjoys going on adventures together. Like any young dog, she still has a lot to learn, but with patience, love, and guidance, she will develop into a fantastic and loyal companion. What Penelope needs most right now is a chance. A garden to play in, people who love her and let her feel that she is finally home. Maybe you are the one who can give her that. Penelope is still in Romania but can come to the Netherlands if an owner is found for her. If you are interested in Penelope, please send us a message with your living and work situation and any experience you have with dogs. If after an intake conversation it turns out you are a match, an appointment can be made to pick her up at our small shelter in Didam. Penelope is our shelter The adoption fee is € 390,-. This is a contribution towards the costs such as spaying, the trip to the Netherlands, EU passport, chip, and vaccinations. Read also the adoption information and our adoption conditions. This animal is microchipped.

About Honden ter adoptie

What life with Honden ter adoptie looks like

Honden ter adoptie is a young adult dog waiting at SOS Dogs Nederland in NN Didam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Honden ter adoptie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Honden ter adoptie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Dogs Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Honden ter adoptie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Honden ter adoptie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Dogs Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Honden ter adoptie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Honden ter adoptie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Dogs Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Honden ter adoptie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
