adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Honey has found a home! His story: Sweet like Honey The charming Honey with his distinctive black mask and soft fur is on the lookout for his permanent home! Born on the streets with his siblings, although his mother, Frozen, even had an owner. Luckily, all of them were brought to safety by Dorel. Now, almost the whole family has left their old lives behind, but Benji and Honey remain in Romania. While Frozen was already able to embark on her great journey to happiness, Honey and his brother have been waiting in the shelter for a year. At almost two years old, Honey has grown into an impressive male dog. Standing at about 60 cm at the shoulder and weighing around 35-40 kg, he belongs to the more imposing dogs. But despite his size, Honey is an incredibly cute and lovable guy. Honey has a friendly and open personality. He shows affection towards people and is fully compatible with other dogs. Whether he tolerates cats has not yet been tested. Honey is looking for cuddly and loving people who will support and foster him in his further life. As soon as he sees people, he runs up happily and nuzzles against them. At two years old, Honey has left his puppyhood behind and is almost out of his teenage years. Nevertheless, he is looking forward to learning more in the Dog 1×1 class. He needs people who will train him with patience and positive reinforcement without overloading him. A positively working dog training class would be perfect for him to build self-confidence, learn new things, and strengthen his bond with his family. Honey loves walks, adventures in nature, and also cozy cuddle hours. His new people should give him time to get used to his new life and introduce him to everything a doggy buddy needs to know with calm consistency. His luggage is already packed: Honey travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Of course, he also brings his EU pet passport. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros and after a positive assessment, he would also be happy to have a foster home. Would you like to give Honey a life full of affection and adventure? Then get in touch – Honey is looking forward to winning your heart! Thank you Christine M.-S.! You gave Honey the start of his new life with your nametag sponsorship. A big thank you also goes to Lena I., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Honey. Thank you, Daniel V.! You support Honey with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 25.01.

Vielen Dank Daniel V.! Du unterstützt Honey mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 25.01.2025

About Honey

What life with Honey looks like

Honey is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Honey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Honey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Honey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Honey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Honey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Honey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Honey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
