Hope is our oldest cat here at Farplace, and we would absolutely love to find him a peaceful, loving home where he can enjoy his retirement and finally have the quiet life he deserves. Hope spent the majority of his life locked away in a room, and understandably, that had a huge impact on him. When he first came to us, he had some behavioural difficulties and could become aggressive. With time, patience and lots of understanding, Hope has come a very long way. He’s now a reasonably friendly boy, although he does still like his own space and will very clearly let you know when he’s had enough attention! For Hope, it’s all about having someone who understands his boundaries and is happy to let him do things at his own pace. He isn’t looking for a busy household or lots of excitement. What we’d really love for him is a quiet, peaceful home with someone who will simply enjoy having him around. Hope has some ongoing health needs which his new family would need to be comfortable managing. He has arthritis and receives a monthly Solensia injection to help keep him comfortable, as well as daily Gabapentin for pain relief, which also has a mild calming effect. Thankfully, Hope takes his medication very well when it’s mixed into his food. He’s also on a special diet as he is overweight and has a sensitive tummy. Hope has a couple of cysts which have been checked and are benign. They haven’t caused him any problems, but they will need to be kept an eye on as part of his routine care. Hope would probably be happiest as an only pet, although we think he could potentially cope with another calm, older cat who would respect his personal space. At 16 years old, Hope isn’t looking for adventures. He’d be perfectly content with a comfy bed, some good food, a sunny spot and a quiet person nearby. After everything he’s been through, we’d just love to see him have the opportunity to experience the kind of safe, loving home he has never really had before. If you think you might be able to give Hope that home, we’d really love to hear from you. We would also be very interested in talking to anyone who might be able to foster Hope, and we may be able to help with some of his veterinary and food costs. Please get in touch if this is something you would consider. Hope needs an indoor-only home. A secure catio or secure garden would be a lovely bonus, but isn’t essential. As with all of our cats, Hope will leave Farplace castrated, microchipped and vaccinated, with his flea and worm treatment up to date, and following a full health check. We’ll also provide you with a full copy of his veterinary records to keep for your own records when he goes off to his new home. Indoor-only policy If you feel you could offer this lovely cat the right home, please email for an adoption questionnaire. We can then arrange a home check. We are happy to consider homes up to around two hours’ travel from the rescue. Any further than this can make it difficult for us to offer the support we feel is important after adoption.
