Hoppel

Male · Adult · 5 years

Hoppel is a rather shy and reserved fellow. So far, he has only known cage life and still finds it difficult to leave his familiar cage. He prefers to sit in his little house where he feels safe. However, he is happy to come out briefly for tasty hay, fresh food or a few pea flakes. Since Hoppel has not yet had the opportunity to meet other rabbits, we are looking for a confident, open-minded female rabbit who can show him with her curious nature that there is much to discover outside his familiar surroundings. Hoppel enjoys being petted by humans. However, it is important to approach him with calmness and patience, as he does not like haste. We wish for Hoppel a understanding home where he can arrive at his own pace and become bolder step by step. Hoppel is vaccinated against MYXO and RHD 1+2. We would like to spare our animals long journeys and therefore hope for inquiries from a radius of no more than 100 kilometers.

DE·Show original

About Hoppel

What life with Hoppel looks like

Hoppel is an adult rabbit waiting at Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. in Langen.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hoppel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hoppel?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hoppel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hoppel if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Hoppel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. directly what is included and what Hoppel still needs.
What happens if Hoppel isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Artgerecht Tierschutz e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hoppel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
