Horus

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 3 years

Gender: male, neutered Color: white with striped markings Suitable for: apartment living Time in the animal shelter: since May 2026 Horus – a quiet tomcat is looking for his happiness &; Horus is an approximately 2023-born tomcat who is now on the lookout for a loving home where he can finally arrive. The handsome tomcat currently shows a bit of reserve, observing his surroundings from a safe distance and taking the time to get to know new people. But it becomes clear quickly that Horus is a friendly and curious tomcat who builds trust step by step and gradually opens up. Especially at ease in the company of other cats, he is very social and gets along well with fellow animals and therefore does not want to live alone in the future. In his new home, there should already be at least one friendly feline friend present, or he may move in with a suitable cat companion. For Horus, we wish for a quiet home with people who give him the time to settle in at his own pace. Whoever gives him this chance will witness how trust develops from initial reserve. Horus is not a tomcat who wants to be in the spotlight immediately – rather, he is a quiet charmer who wins the hearts of his people with his gentle nature. With a bit of patience and love, he will certainly develop into a loyal companion. Now, Horus is just missing the right home where he can show what a wonderful tomcat he is inside. &;&; For serious interest, we are happy to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment under the phone number. Gets along with other dogs.

About Horus

What life with Horus looks like

Horus is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Lohr am Main in Lohr am Main.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Horus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Horus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lohr am Main handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Horus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Horus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lohr am Main will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Horus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Horus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lohr am Main early rather than rehoming privately; they know Horus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
