Hoyito

Podenco · Male · Young · 2 years

Origin: Ubeda (Andalusia) Location: Ubeda (Andalusia) Size / Weight: approx. 49 cm at the shoulder with approx. 17 kg Other: neutered, microchipped with EU passport, vaccinated and tested for Mediterranean diseases Character: nice, friendly, active, compatible with other dogs New home: empathy, time, no expectations, understanding of dogs, garden Adoption fee: 450 euros including transport costs to Germany Hoyito is a handsome Podenco male dog waiting for a new life at the animal shelter in Ubeda/Andalusia. This is how Hoyito is described by our caretakers in Spain: Hoyito was found by a couple on the countryside while they spent a weekend near Ubeda. They took him in, bathed and fed him and spent the night with them and their dog. The next day they brought him to the animal shelter. Hoyito is a medium-sized Podenco and very playful. He is also quite excited, but we are sure he would become calmer if he could live in a home instead of spending most of his time in a kennel. He gets along well with people - he loves when they play with him - and with other dogs, both male and female dogs. He has a lot of energy, so he needs space to burn it off and a family that has plenty of time for him. Hoyito needs someone who can give him the necessary confidence to become the wonderful dog he can be outside of a kennel. With him there will be no boredom or monotony. We hope Hoyito will also get his chance. His chance to experience how beautiful life can be. If you have the opportunity to offer Hoyito a forever home, then we would be happy if you contact us. Hoyito can leave for Germany completely vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed and tested for Mediterranean diseases at any time. As our dogs arrive from Spain in Northern Bavaria, we ask you to check before making an inquiry whether pickup for you in Northern Bavaria is possible. The behavioral and character description of the dog is based on observations by the shelter staff on site and refers exclusively to the local conditions.

About Hoyito

What life with Hoyito looks like

Hoyito is a medium-sized young adult podenco dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hoyito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hoyito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hoyito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hoyito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hoyito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hoyito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hoyito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
