Adopt Hubba&Bubba

English Bulldog · Female · 3 years

Na, do you recognize us? Yes, we are the two from Facebook who were found together. Since our owners haven't gotten back to us, we're starting to look for a new home. As you might already know, we still have some operations lined up. Why? Well, due to our breed, we have some health limitations, such as very short ear canals. This leads to ear infections, and if left untreated, growths can form. These growths are so advanced in us that they actually come out of our ears. So, both of us need to be operated on for both ears. Our shortened respiratory tracts also cause breathing issues. We need both of us to be operated on for that as well. As you can see, we still have a lot on our plate, and the whole thing will definitely not be a piece of cake. That's why we're now looking for responsible people who are aware of the challenge our breed unfortunately brings with it. But in return, you get an absolute dream duo that's full of fun. We are aware that we both represent a mammoth task, but we really want to stay together. Our well-practiced dynamics aren't by chance; I, Hubba, am the daughter (Hubba) of my mother (Bubba). I've learned everything from her and follow her very closely. If she's gone for a walk without me, I whine until she returns because only with her is the world in order. The only thing my mother Bubba didn't pass on to me is her stoic calmness. She approaches things with a laid-back attitude, walks calmly on the leash, and takes everything under scrutiny. I, Hubba, am a bundle of energy that nothing can keep up with. The world is simply too exciting! But for cuddle and snuggle sessions, we are always available, and we both come to a peaceful state and enjoy the attention. So, you see, we are the perfect mix. Is there someone here who wants to start a new chapter of life with us? One without pain and itching? That would be great! Children should already be a bit bigger, but we are actually very friendly. Just get in touch with our staff, and they can tell you even more.

About Hubba&Bubba

What life with Hubba&Bubba looks like

Hubba&Bubba is a medium-sized adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Essen in Essen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Both dogs require multiple surgeries for ear canal problems and breathing issues due to shortened airways. Extensive medical care needed.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hubba&Bubba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hubba&Bubba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Essen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hubba&Bubba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hubba&Bubba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Essen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hubba&Bubba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hubba&Bubba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Essen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hubba&Bubba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
