Hubert means 'bright heart' which perfectly describes our ward. This young dog has good proportions and beautiful tortoiseshell fur, but his inner beauty is most striking. He behaves very politely around people, clearly having spent much time with humans. Hubert loves walks and knows how to enjoy every moment in nature. He's a classic sniffer who studies grass patches with scientific dedication. He's learned to calmly pass strangers, cars, and cyclists. After proper introduction, he can spend time with calm, balanced dogs. Some dogs still trigger emotions in him, but he increasingly chooses to avoid them by walking quickly past. He's gradually learning leash control but would master this faster in a calm home environment. Having gone from couch to shelter kennel, Hubert needs a house with large fenced yard, predictable environment, long walks, good diet, and quiet resting place. He needs company of nice, stable dogs but introducing him to a multi-dog home would require very aware caretakers. He previously lived with a cat but will chase unfamiliar cats.
